What is Connect2Parents?

Connect2parents makes it simple for school staff to send text messages to parents who are constantly on the go and rely on mobile phones to keep them connected and informed, without revealing any phone numbers.

How does Connect2Parentrs work?

It's Easy. First, a principal or school administrator creates an account for their school or program which generates a local telephone number. They can add teachers who can share information with their classes. The teacher adds their class to Connect2Parents, each class created generates a unique code. The teacher then shares that code along with the school phone number with their parents. Parents send a text message to the phone number to 'signup' for notifications for that class.

How much does it cost?

Clarity is key. Our prices are public and affordable, we believe everyone is entitled to the best price we can offer, only $0.29 per student. Those prices are the same no matter who you are. Our philosophy is to communicate clearly, we don't use tech-speak, buzzwords, lingo, or offer sensationalized sales-and-marketing-speak have no place at connect2parents.

How much will parents pay?

Standard text messaging rates apply.

How many accounts does my school need?

One account can serve an entire school, each teacher will receive an individual dashboard that they will manage.

Are messages automatically translated from English to Spanish?

Yes. When a teacher creates a class they can choose whether to also send messages in Spanish. A separate unique code is generated in Spanish for Spanish speaking parents, so when the teacher enters a message in English and hits send the message is sent to parents in both English and Spanish who've subscribed to that respective code.

I am a parent. Can the teacher see my phone number?

No. Teachers never see your phone number.

Why would we need Connect2Parents when we can just text message directly?

Direct phone-to-phone text messaging presents legal risks. Educators or Caretakers potentially exchanging students personal contact information creates unavoidable liabilities that could potentially cause serious problems in an academic setting. Aside from being unsafe, traditional text messaging becomes cumbersome for educators because it is not intended for mass communication. Connect2Parents addresses both of these issues. It's safe: Connect2Parents is a closed messaging system where there is never any need to share personal information. It's convenient: Connect2Parents is optimized for all educators - including daycare centers, schools, after school programs, athletic teams, program facilitators, mentors and tutors. The system facilitates the enrollment process (for all message recipients) so that educators can effortlessly text one student or an entire class.

Why not use Twitter?

Connect2Parents is a closed environment, you control who and when uses access your class, Twitter believes they own your database. As a result Twitter could send your parents unsolicited text messages and they could rent your parent contacts to 3rd parties. Also, with Twitter, your parents can't opt-in from their phone.

How do my students/parents sign up?

Students and parents sign up for notification by sending a text message to connect2parents phone number with a teacher's class code (e.g. text @history1 to 555-123-4567).

Will students see my number?

No, that's the beauty of the whole thing. Parents and teachers talk freely without giving up their privacy or taking on liability.

Do I need a smartphone?

Can use any web-enabled device to send messages. Students and parents can use any text-enabled phone.

Can parents reply?

Are class codes case sensitive?

No.

Does Connect2Parents have a smart phone app?

Not yet. We're working on one.

How do students or parents opt out of receiving messages?

Replying with the word "stop" unsubscribes the student/parent from the class.

As an administrator, how many teachers can I add to Connect2Parents?

We base your monthly price on the number of students at your school or program, not on the number of messages sent so can add as many teachers as you'd like.

As a teacher, how many classes can I add on Connect2Parents?

As many as you like.

Do you support international messaging?

Sorry, only U.S. and Canada for now.

Will Connect2Parents share my phone number?

No. Never. Ever.

I'm a parent and want to use connect2parents, but my facility isn't using it yet. What can I do?
